Mechanical testing of additively manufactured (DED) Alloy 625 deposited on AM (PBF-LB) GRCop-42. "heated" samples were thermally exposed at 1500F (816C) for 200 hours before being machined into round, tapered/threaded test bars. The "non-heated" samples were in machined from the as-built condition. Testing was completed using a Shimadzu Servopulser EHF-EV101K1. Tensile testing was executed at a test speed of 0.3mm/min. Fatigue testing was load controlled, fully reversed (+/- 150MPa) at 20 hertz. There was no intentional heating during testing, however the ambient temperature was approximately 100F. Tensile strength of thermally exposed (TE) samples was less compared to the as-built samples. All tests fractured at either the interface or in the GRCop-42 (copper alloy) side of the test bar.
Note: The non-heat treat SN4 fatigue test stopped recording prior to fracture due to a controller error.
