资源简介:
Pollen samples were examined from strata in a trench at site 42Wn2151 on the south
side of the Fremont River Valley in Wayne County, south-central Utah. Pollen samples also
were recovered from a poured clay floor believed to represent an outdoor work area or ramada
that burned, while fill from a hearth noted in the poured clay floor was examined for macrofloral
remains and for organic residues using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR).
Diagnostic artifacts and radiocarbon dates indicate a Fremont occupation of the site. Pollen,
macrofloral, and FTIR analyses will be used to provide subsistence information concerning plant
resources utilized by the site occupants, particularly the use or presence of riparian plants.
