We quantify spatiotemporal changes in terrestrial organic carbon of China over 851–2022 using a land surface model driven by reconstructed climate and land cover forcings. Contains two files: - Mille_CN_carbon.mat gives the temporal variations of simulated gpp, npp, nbp, and carbon in vegetation (cVeg), litter (cLitter) and 1-m soil (SOC1m). The total organic carbon in the paper includes cVeg, cLitter and SOC1m.These data can reproduce Fig. 2 in the paper. - Mille_CN_carbon_grid.mat gives gridded data of simulated cVeg, cLitter and SOC1m in S3 simulation. The dimension of 400×700×1172 corresponds to a spatial domain spanning 15–55°N and 70–140°E at a resolution of 0.1°, with a temporal coverage from 851 to 2022. This is the supplementary data for the paper "Millennial land carbon emissions in China offset by carbon sinks of the past four decades" published in Nature Communications.
