Malus sieversii and its red meat variant (M. Sieversii F. Nieidzwetzkyana) are the ancestors of cultivated apples in the world, with rich genetic diversity and high polyphenol content in fruits, which is an important resource for apple breeding. Our previous studies showed that M.sieversii f.neidzwetzkyana showed better stress resistance, including enhanced saline-alkali resistance, compared with other domesticated apples. In this study, RNA-seq technology was used to analyze the molecular mechanism of red meat apple's response to saline-alkali stress at the transcriptomic level, which also provided a basis for the study of the mechanism of apple's resistance to abiotic stress.
