Metagenomic analysis of hotspring water samples from Domas Crater - Acidic Hot springs, Indonesia

Domas Crater is an environment with acidic pH and high temperature. Microbes capable of living in such extreme environments have unique characteristics that are highly potential for the development of thermophilic enzymes for the biotechnology field. The metagenome method is used to explore the microbial diversity and their functional genes inhabiting Domas crater without prior microbial culturing. In this study, DNA was extracted from water samples taken aseptically from Domas Crater. The extracted DNA was sequenced using NGS to obtain metagenomic data.
