This dataset includes Argos satellite telemetry locations for 128 Hawaiian monk seals from the six major breeding sites in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands (French Frigate Shoals, Laysan Island, Lisianski Island, Pearl and Hermes Reef, Midway Atoll, Kure Atoll). Seals were instrumented during field camps or research cruises in the NWHI, in spring-fall seasons from 1996-2002. We stratified sampling by sex and age class to the extent possible, so that comparisons could be made based on both geography and biology. Here we provide a Master Deployment Log table with details about each deployment on each seal (across all datasets), as well as dataset-specific Deployment Logs and Location Tables with location data for each seal. These data have been post-processed to remove erroneous locations (Location quality code Z, or points indicating impossible movement speeds or angles removed using the argos filter routine in R).
