Digital Archive from an Archaeological Evaluation at Semington Road, Melksham, Wiltshire, April to May 2022

This collection comprises images and GIS data from an archaeological evaluation of land at Semington Road, Melksham, Wiltshire. This work was undertaken between April and May 2022 by Cotswold Archaeology. A total of 44 trenches were excavated. Dispersed evidence for prehistoric and Roman activity was recorded across the site, likely relating to activity on the periphery of a possible settlement identified to the north-east by geophysical survey. No clear evidence of domestic activity was identified within the site. Evidence for medieval or post-medieval ridge and furrow cultivation and agricultural land-division were also recorded, with the latter correlating to a former field boundary shown on historic mapping.
