Solar and wind plants accounted for more than 80 percent of all operating power stations in the United Kingdom in 2022. That year, there were 640 solar PV stations, 428 onshore wind turbines, and 48 offshore wind stations. Hydro was another renewable source with a high number of power stations, at 129. There were also five operating nuclear power stations in the UK.
