Existing bike paths, bike lanes, and bike routes on Martha's Vineyard and the Elizabeth Islands (town of Gosnold) are included in this dataset. The linear network was extracted mostly from MassDOT Year-End Road Inventory Files centerlines or on-screen digitized from aerial photos. These data are not intended for engineering purposes. Key Attributes are Type and Phase. TYPE could be: Path, Lane, or Route. PHASE could be: 1 = Existing bike path, lane, or route TOWN utilizes the ID numbers assigned by MassGIS: 104 = Aquinnah, 62 = Chilmark, 89 = Edgartown, 109 = Gosnold, 221 = Oak Bluffs, 296 = Tisbury, 327 = West Tisbury SURFACE is a generalized categorization: P = Paved, U = Unpaved, ND = Not Determined Contributors to this dataset may include: BPAC (Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee, Town's Open Space & Recreation Committees, MVC Martha's Vineyard Commission, Ad-hoc biking enthusiasts, Town's Master Plan sub-Committees, etc.
