Measuring biodiversity from DNA in air

The main goal of this study is to analyse DNA collected from air samples and generate a biodiversity inventory of a zoological park in the UK. We used two primer sets and identified 25 taxa, including the zoo animals, native wildlife, prey items and locally abundant invasive species. Our study demonstrates the possibility airDNA has for use in terrestrial biodiversity monitoring.
