Ikeja Roads and Boundaries

This dataset provides a detailed geospatial representation of the road infrastructure in Ikeja, the capital of Lagos State, Nigeria. Developed under the Open Geospatial Data Initiative (OGDI) by BW Analytics, the dataset captures both the physical structure and infrastructure conditions of the road network – including road surface type, drainage presence and condition, and street lighting, offering a level of detail rarely found in existing open data sources. The road data were created through a combination of satellite imagery digitization, cross-referencing with high-resolution basemaps, and extensive ground-truthing. In addition to the road network, the dataset includes the ward-level administrative boundaries of Ikeja, enabling spatial analysis within official political units and supporting applications in planning, service delivery, and governance. Together, these layers provide a high-resolution, field-validated foundation for transportation planning, infrastructure assessment, urban development, and disaster preparedness in one of Lagos’s most critical urban hubs.
