This study elucidates the mechanism by which dexmedetomidine (Dex) attenuates sepsis-induced inflammation and organ injury. Using an integrative approach combining in vivo and in vitro models with single-cell RNA sequencing and 16S rRNA analysis, we demonstrate that Dex confers protection primarily by downregulating hepatic 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPD).
