SUMMARYThis project aims to unravel the mechanisms involved in stress tolerance and/or adaptation mediated via the crosstalk and coordinated action of MG, Ser, and Mel. Through our study, we could find numerous genes co-ordinately regulated by MG, serotonin, and melatonin treatment with transcription factors acting as a potential node of cross-talk among these molecules.OVERALL DESIGNOryza sativa var IR64 seeds were bavistin treated and hydroponically grown in continuous light (50Micro mol/m2.s) for 4 days and then transferred to continuous dark for additional 2 days. 8-days old rice seedlings were exposed to 100 Micro mol/ (m2.s) continuous light and additional dark for 6hrs (control set) or supplied with 50microM MG under both light and dark. Similarly, 8-day-old rice seedlings were exposed to 100Micro mol/ (m2.s) continuous light and additional dark for 6hrs (control set) or supplied with 500Micro mol serotonin and 500Micro mol melatonin under both light and dark. Total RNA was isolated from the control and treated samples for global transcriptome and miRNA analysis
