Highway roadbeds in seasonal frozen areas often cause moisture redistribution and humidity state change due to soil moisture migration, leading to frost heave, grouting, and other roadbed distresses and affecting normal highway use. Therefore, effectively restricting the capillary rise and soil water migration in groundwater enrichment areas is critical in reducing highway roadbed water damage and improving the highway service quality.In this study, taking the plasticity index of soil as the basis for soil classification, organosilicon hydrophobic materials were used in three kinds of soils with different plasticity indexes. The interaction mechanism between organosilicon hydrophobic materials and different soils was explored through the changes in macroscopic permeability, soil- water contact characteristics, and microstructure. The study provides theoretical guidance for applying organosilicon hydrophobic materials to more types of soils and improving their waterproofing properties.
