This project aims to characterize the bacterial communities associated with the insect Dactylopius opuntiae using full-length 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing via Oxford Nanopore MinION technology. By analyzing samples collected from multiple Moroccan regions, the study seeks to uncover the diversity, composition, and potential functional roles of the microbiota inhabiting this economically important pest. Understanding these microbial interactions may provide insights into pest biology and offer new avenues for biological control strategies.
