Speed Stride Length and Frequency from Lead and Wheel Chuckwagon Horses During Racing

Data set providing matched speed, stride frequency and stride length data for 60 Chuckwagon horses competing at the 2025 Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby. In addition to speed and stride parameters data are tagged by whether they originate from a lead horse (horse in the front row of the 2x2 pattern) or from a wheel horse (back row). Data are provided for each 100m section (labeled 1 to 10) over an approximately 1000m distance with the first section starting when the horse crosses a speed threshold of 10 m/s (36 km/h) and typically the last section includes the finish line of the race.
