The collection contains visible to infrared reflectance spectra of magnetite-chlorite controlled mixtures and their pure endmembers of varying grain sizes. The magnetite-chlorite spectral reference library was produced to provide accessible training data for predictive machine learning applications for minerals industry.\nLineage: Visible to infrared reflectance spectra was collected from a total 34 samples over the wavelength range from 380–16,670 nm (26,316–600 cm-1) that is detectable using current industry-ready sensors. Magnetite samples were prepared from magnetite ore concentrate from the South Middleback Range (SMR) iron ore camp, located approximately 60 km north-west of Whyalla, South Australia. Chlorite samples were prepared by crushing from specimen (MT8393), identified as clinochlore sourced from the CSIRO Mineral Library in Kensington, Western Australia.
