The ascomycetous yeast Zygosaccharomyces bailii is regarded to be one of the most problematic spoilage yeasts in food and beverage technology. The draft genome sequence of strain CLIB 213T was determined by the Illumina High seq 2000 technology using the Genome Analyzer II. The 100-bp paired-end reads were assembled de novo using the SOAPdenovo v1.04 software program into 53596 contigs. The concatenation of the size of the 27 scaffolds gives a sequence of 10,268,813 bp. A total of 5,000 putative open reading frames (ORFs) were predicted using the software program Amadea-Biopack (I-soft, Gif-sur-Yvette, France) and further curated manually.
