Code for: Unfamiliar Contexts Compared to Familiar Contexts Impair Learning in Humans

The study this analysis code was written for investigated context effects on new learning in two experiments. In the first one, participants learned and retrieved two non-overlapping word lists in separate sessions. The two sessions either took place within the same context (location, decoration etc.), or in two different contexts. In the second experiment, we wanted to find out whether the effects of context change were influenced by context familiarity. The experiment mirrored the setup of experiment 1, except that participants were additonally familiarised with the other during the first session, so both contexts were equally familiar by the time the second session took place. For further details, please refer to the corresponding publication. Note that the scripts assume that the data lie in the same folder as the analysis scripts, so in order to run these scripts, please download both the data (see "Related PsychArchives Objects") and the code, and add the data files to the analysis folder.
