This is the Supplementary Data to the paper: Islands are key to protect the world’s plant endemism. It holds information for all known vascular plants native and endemic to islands worldwide. Details on source data and counting methods can be found in the original publication. The data table is composed of 12 columns. These are: · species: species names for all species native and endemic to islands. Taxonomy follows the World Checklist of Vascular Plants · family: Family of each species · apomictic: binary - indicates whether species is from genus prone to asexual reproduction via apomixis. Details are in the Methods or original publication. · island_endemic_expert: binary – indicates whether a species is considered endemic to islands by the author(s) of the original island species lists (corresponds to Method 1 – Expert-based). · island_endemic_excl: binary – indicates whether a species only occurs on islands in the original dataset (corresponds to Method 2 – Exclusion). · island_endemic_expert_AND_excl: binary – indicates whether a species is considered endemic to islands by method 1 and method 3 (corresponds to Method 3 – Expert-based AND exclusion). · island_endemic_expert_OR_excl: binary – indicates whether a species is considered endemic to islands by method 1 or method 3 (corresponds to Method 4 – Expert-based OR exclusion). · single-island_endemic: binary – if species is endemic to a single island, it states the island name. If blank than not endemic to a single island. · archipelago_endemic: binary – if species is endemic to an archipelago, it states the archipelago name. If blank than not endemic to a single archipelago. · floristic_region_endemic: binary – if species is endemic to floristic region (based on the floristic regionalisation of Takhtajan), it states the Takhtajan region. If blank than not endemic to a floristic region. · duplicated_island: binary – indicates if species is considered endemic to a single island by method 1 but was also reported on other islands. · duplicated_mainland: binary – indicates if species is considered endemic islands by method 1 but was also reported on the mainland.
