Cloud-top temperature refers to the temperature (K) at the top of a cloud layer. Cloud-top height is represented by cloud-top pressure, defined as the pressure value (hPa) of the layer where the cloud top is located. When the cloud layer is opaque, the cloud-top effective radiative temperature approximates the actual cloud-top temperature; when the cloud layer is relatively thin, there is a significant difference between the cloud-top effective radiative temperature and the actual cloud-top temperature. Cloud-top height retrieval mainly utilizes two infrared window channels (11.0 µm, 12.0 µm) and one CO₂ absorption channel (13.3 µm), combined with the infrared split-window channel algorithm and the CO₂/infrared channel method.
