CNT1 knockout downregulates tumor suppressor RGS11 in mouse pancreas

Concentrative nucleoside transporter 1 (CNT1) encoded by the SLC28A1 gene is one of the three high-affinity nucleoside transporters (CNTs) with a substrate specificity for physiological and synthetic pyrimidine nucleosides. Our lab has characterized a CNT1-deficient mouse model. RNAseq analysis of pancreatic tissue from CNT1-null mice showed a significant downregulation of a regulator of G protein signaling (RGS) 11 protein, which emerged as a key target of CNT1 and exhibits potent tumor suppressive properties in pancreatic cancer.
