资源简介:
This dataset includes primary sources used and analyzed in my work on the article entitled "Contested intersections: Asexuality and disability, illness, or trauma”. The dataset includes bibliographic information on the sources used as well as analytical categories used in the analysis. This collection of primary texts is a result of an extensive search online for personal and theoretical accounts of asexuality intersecting with disability or sexual trauma. The texts were published on personal blogs and in AZE journal between 2015 and 2023. The constitute an important resource for researchers interested in personal accounts of asexuality and particularly the marginalization of asexual voices that go counter to the dominant narrative about sexual identity, emphasizing the impact of trauma or disability on their sexuality.Abstract of the publication:This article analyzes the personal writings of asexual people for whom their identity is connected to disability, illness, or trauma. Asexuality is typically understood as an inherent sexual orientation that is neither caused by nor linked to disability or physiological and psychological issues. This approach has allowed asexuality to be widely accepted as an element of human sexual diversity and protects asexual people against unwanted medical intervention. Yet, disability, illness, or trauma informs some asexual people’s sexuality. Attending to their perspectives results in broadening contemporary conceptualizations of asexuality beyond the model of essentialist sexual orientation and contributes to destigmatizing asexual identities that are entangled with disability, illness, or trauma.
