VPRS 8902 Geographical Index to General Correspondence Files, Multiple Number Sequence

This card index was created by the State Electricity Commission (SECV) (VA 1002) to provide access to the correspondence files located in VPRS 8897 by geographical location that was the subject of correspondence.The Geographical Index comprises cards arranged in alphabetic order according to the locality of the subject of the letter. Most locations are within Victoria but some from outside Victoria are also included in the index. Information may be recorded on both sides of the cards which were sequentially numbered if more than one card was created for a location.Information on the cards is recorded either across the top or in columns printed onto the cards. The standard information provided for on the printed card was:Location;Card number;Date (of the files creation);Precis (which may equate to the file title); andFile number.
