OAPEN MARC files

These are MARC records created from metadata supplied by OAPEN. They describe the Open Access and Free-to-read ebook titles in the OAPEN database. IMPORTANT UPDATE: beginning with the files posted September 5, 2025, these records have been enhanced to include additional subject headings, including thousands of Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH). These enhancements should improve discoverability of these titles in library catalogs and discovery systems.

There are three files:

1. OAPEN-CCONLY-20250905.mrc (39,970 records): these records describe OAPEN titles that include explicit mention of a CC license in the metadata. They are tagged as "Open Access" in the MARC records.

2. OAPEN-NOCC-20250905.mrc (2,833 records): these records describe OAPEN titles that do NOT explicitly mention a CC license in the metadata. They are tagged as "Free-to-read" in the MARC records.

3. OAPEN-NODOWNLOADS-20250905.mrc (1,316 records): these records describe OAPEN titles for which only a limited number of chapters are available in OAPEN. There are no download links in these records; the links point to descriptions of the work which themselves point to downloadable chapters.
