Medicalisation of female genital mutilation (FGM) in Kenya

The project investigated the practice of female genital mutilation (FGM) in three Kenyan communities namely the Somali, Abagusii and the Kuria. Specifically, the project sought to understand why families seek FGM services for their daughters from health care providers and why the providers accepted to perform FGM on the girls. The data was collected through in depth interviews, key informant interviews and focus group discussion. The sample data collection tools and the obtained data have been uploaded in this repository.
