Tissue DNA methylation during SIVmac infection in the rhesus macaque

We characterized DNA methylation profiles across lentiviral infection in a progressing non-human primate model of AIDS - SIVmac infection in the rhesus macaque. We contrasted methylation data across the course of the SIVmac infection in the young adult and old adult rhesus macaques to identify potential age-related differential methylation patterns and epigenetic clock acceleration. DNA methylation profiles were generated from 56 tissue samples from 6 solid tissues (cerebellum, transverse colon, liver, heart, spleen, and peritoneal fat) from 6 old adults and 4 young adults. For DNA methylation analysis, we used a custom Infinium methylation array HorvathMammalMethylChip40.
