Genomic data of northern chamois populations

This study presents whole-genome sequencing data from northern chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra) individuals sampled in the Alps and Dinaric Mountains. Tissue and muscle samples were collected from multiple populations, representing both the R. r. rupicapra and R. r. balcanica subspecies. High-quality genomic DNA was extracted, and sequencing libraries were prepared and sequenced at Novogene using the Illumina NovaSeq X Plus platform with 150 bp paired-end reads. Each sample generated approximately 50 gigabases of raw data, achieving about 15× coverage. This dataset will support population genomics, phylogeographic analyses, hybridization studies, and conservation genetic research, providing valuable insights into the genetic diversity, population structure, and evolutionary history of Rupicapra rupicapra.
