EFFECTIVENESS OF SWITCH DEFENSE AND SMALL-BALL STRATEGIES IN MODERN BASKETBALL

Modern basketball has undergone significant tactical transformation, with switch defense and small-ball lineups emerging as dominant strategic approaches. This study examines the effectiveness of these strategies in elite competitions, particularly within the NBA. The research analyzes tactical efficiency, spatial dynamics, and performance outcomes associated with defensive switching and small-ball offensive structures. Findings indicate that both strategies enhance pace, spacing, and defensive flexibility, but require high levels of player versatility and cognitive adaptability.
