The study assessed chrysin chemopreventive potential against paraquat-induced gut microbiome dysbiosis in a rat model. Forty rats were divided into four groups which include control, chrysin alone, paraquat, and chrysin plus paraquat. A single paraquat dose followed chrysin pre-treatment for 14 days. Twenty four hours later, faecal samples were obtain from the inside the colon/anus obtained for NGS bacteria metagenomoics. The objective was to explore the impact of paraquat and/or chrysin on the bacterial community (abundance, diversity, and taxonomical profiling) using metagenomics.
