FEDS-MTBS: an MTBS-constrained FEDS dataset in U.S.

The MTBS-constrained Fire Event Data Suite (FEDS-MTBS) is a comprehensive dataset tracking 7,739 large fire events across the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, from 2012 to 2024. By integrating 375 m active fire detections from the VIIRS instrument with high-resolution Landsat-based perimeters from the Monitoring Trends in Burn Severity (MTBS) program, the dataset provides a refined, 12-hourly temporal evolution of fire progression. Each fire event—restricted to those exceeding 1,000 acres—includes detailed geospatial layers for total fire perimeters, active fire lines, and newly detected pixels, offering a robust tool for analyzing fire behavior and spread dynamics at a continental scale.
