Educational Attainment by Local Action Group in the Province of Cáceres (Spain): Municipal Census Data

This dataset contains educational attainment data for 124 municipalities in the province of Cáceres (Extremadura, Spain), grouped by their 16 Local Action Groups (LAGs), as defined by the Red Extremeña de Desarrollo Rural (REDEX). All data are derived from the 2021 Population and Housing Census published by the Spanish National Statistics Institute (INE, Censos de Población y Viviendas 2021. Resultados definitivos).

The workbook comprises six sheets: (1) tabla_bruto — raw INE census extract with all educational levels disaggregated by sex for each municipality; (2) tabla_final — intermediate processing table retaining full INE category labels; (3) tabla_final_consolidada — the main analytical table, with 124 rows (one per municipality) and 24 variables including LAG code, INE municipal code, total population, and absolute counts for seven educational levels (illiteracy, primary, secondary, higher education, postgraduate) disaggregated by sex (Total, Male, Female); (4) graficos_municipio — municipal-level illiteracy rates by sex and distribution intervals, used to generate scatter plots; (5) graficos_grupo — LAG-level aggregates and percentages for all educational levels by sex, plus longitudinal summary data for 1991, 2011 and 2021; (6) tablas_grupo — four formatted summary tables used in the associated research article, covering LAG composition, provincial distribution by educational level and sex (2021), temporal evolution (1991–2011–2021), and key educational indicators by LAG.
