Application of Reinforced U-shaped Suture Technique in Laparoscopic Distal Pancreatectomy: An Analysis of 165 Consecutive Cases

This study collected data from 165 patients who underwent LDP at the Department of Biliary and Pancreatic Surgery, First Hospital of Shanxi Medical University, between 2018 and February 2025. The inclusion criteria are patients who underwent LDP for various reasons and have complete clinical data. The corresponding exclusion criteria include patients who did not receive further reinforcement of the remnant and those who lack necessary clinical data that could influence the diagnosis of POPF. Patients were divided into two groups according to the method of pancreatic stump suture reinforcement: Group A: non reinforced U-shaped suture with 113 patients; Group B: reinforced U-shaped suture with 52 patients. The collected data covered three aspects: preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative. Preoperative data: age, gender, body mass index (BMI), smoking history, drinking history, past medical history (such as diabetes and hypertension), ASA anesthesia classification. Intraoperative data: operation time, intraoperative blood loss, and spleen preservation status. Postoperative data: amylase levels in abdominal drainage fluid on postoperative day 3 and beyond, postoperative treatment and care measures and occurrence, type, and severity of postoperative complications .
