This repository contains the supplementary files for the JGR: Solid Earth submission "The Effects of Stress and Friction Heterogeneity on Spatiotemporal Complexity of Seismic and Aseismic Slip on Strike-Slip Faults" by Jeena Yun (j4yun@ucsd.edu), Alice-Agnes Gabriel, Dave A. May, and Yuri Fialko.
[Code availability]- The open-source software Tandem is available at https://github.com/TEAR-ERC/tandem. - We use dmay/seas-checkpoint branch (commit 1dc36db; https://github.com/TEAR-ERC/tandem/tree/dmay/seas-checkpoint) for aging law simulations and jyun/state-law branch (commit 5d5c63f; https://github.com/TEAR-ERC/tandem/tree/jyun/state_laws) for slip law simulations.
[File structure]: The input files for selected seismic cycle models are provided under the [tandem_inputs] directory.> [input_files] : contains example input files for different Tandem simulations.> [mesh] : contains example meshes used in this study.> [fractal_profiles] : contains ascii files of fractal profiles (see [Section 2.2] in the paper).> ridgecrest.cfg : contains all PETSc options used for our Tandem simulations.> run_Tandem.sh : example shell script to run Tandem models in the LMU cluster. [Tandem input files]- Detailed description on Tandem input parameters can be found at https://tandem.readthedocs.io/en/latest/getting-started/installation.html.- The [input_files] directories contain two types of files: - *.toml : defines Tandem simulation parameters. - *.lua : defines material and frictional parameters used in Tandem simulation as a function of space and time.
[Visualization]: Example codes for visualization can be found at https://github.com/TEAR-ERC/tandem-tools/tree/main/visualization.
[Computational Resources]: Tandem simulations were conducted on supercomputing cluster SuperMUC-NG and clusters in the Institute of Geophysics of LMU Munich.
