Assessing biotic homogenization of urban avifauna: A cross-regional comparison in Mexico

This dataset contains standardized bird species checklists from the eBird database for each metropolitan area in Mexico, compiled as part of a national-scale assessment of urban biotic homogenization. Checklists include only complete sampling events and were filtered to remove exotic or non-established species, following the quality-control protocols described in the accompanying metadata. Each metropolitan area dataset contains species occurrence records with date, location, and standardized taxonomic information.The dataset is accompanied by the complete R script used for data cleaning, filtering, and statistical analyses. Analyses include calculations of beta diversity and its components (total dissimilarity, turnover, and nestedness), comparisons across urbanization gradients, and evaluations between biogeographic regions.These data and scripts allow full reproducibility of the results presented in the associated manuscript, and can be reused for studies on urban ecology, beta diversity patterns, or avifaunal community structure across Mexico’s metropolitan areas.
