New Frontiers in Community-based Stroke Rehabilitation for Indonesia

This PhD focused on developing and testing the feasibility of a community stroke service and support program in Indonesia. Firstly, I undertook a scoping review to summarise existing models of community- based stroke rehabilitation in low-resource settings. Secondly, I conducted organisational surveys at hospitals and community health centres (Puskesmas) to explore current Indonesian stroke rehabilitation practices. Thirdly, I performed community screening to identify survivors with stroke in one Puskesmas catchment area to determine how many would potentially benefit from a specific stroke program. Lastly, I co- designed a community stroke service and support program with feasibility testing in one Puskesmas in Makassar.
