Through design research, we can alleviate the "difficulty inparking" problem in old communities, improve the problem of random parking of motor vehicles in the community, and provide reusable research methods and ideas for similar old communities.Field research and user interviews were used to gather information on user characteristicsand needs and the current parking situation within the studied community. This information was analyzed using the Kano model and the Better–Worse satisfaction metric, supplemented by secondary research and interviews, ultimately determining the design direction, based on which a "micro-update" design strategy was employed to implement the design practice and the results were validated using a fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method. The design practice of the smart parking system and its application program was completed, and the final evaluation of the design practice was within the good and very good range, which verified the feasibility of the design scheme and the accuracy of the research ideas and methods. This design research work theoretically provides a research approach and paradigm for similar older communities; taking the parking difficulties of the sample community as a starting point, a design solution was developed to alleviate the problem and improve irregular motor vehicle parking within the sample community.
