Identification of Fungi/yeast and plant species in green honey Revolved Honey diversity and origin

The recent discovery of green honey on Bangi Island, Sabah, has raised significant concerns regarding the authenticity of its distinctive greenish coloration. This unique color is attributed to various chlorophyll types and their derivatives as reported earlier. The primary objective of this study is to ascertain the authenticity of the green honey. To achieve this goal, we used ITS2 sequencing as a methodological approach. Through this sequencing technique, we successfully identified several fungal species commonly associated with honey and certain plant species. Identifying these specific biological components contributes valuable insights into the composition of the green honey, aiding in the determination of its authenticity.
