Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and lipid content of deep-sea cephalopods collected aboard multiple R/V Point Sur cruises in the northern Gulf of Mexico from 2010-02-17 to 2016-08-17

This dataset contains polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and lipid content of deep-sea cephalopods collected aboard multiple R/V Point Sur cruises in the northern Gulf of Mexico (nGOM) from 2010-02-17 to 2016-08-17. The tissue from five of midwater oceanic cephalopods (Japetella diaphana, Abralia redfieldi, Histioteuthis corona, Leachia atlantica, and Onychoteuthis banksii) collected in three geographic areas in the nGoM (east, south and southeast of the Macondo wellhead) were analyzed. Samples were obtained during three time periods, including one period sampled fortuitously just before the Deepwater Horizon spill (2010), and two periods sampled after the spill (2011 and 2015-2016). PAHs were analyzed with an Agilent 7680B gas chromatograph interfaced with an Agilent 7010 triple quadrupole mass spectrometer (GC/MS/MS). The dataset also contains the date and location (latitude, longitude) of sample collection.
