During a representative survey of the British adult population, undertaken between the 16th and 17th March 2020, when asked about their preferred approach to dealing with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on any sports leagues, competitions or tournaments that have been suspended or paused, for most age groups the largest share of the respondents hold the opinion that if the competition is suspended for more than a month, it should be abandoned for this season or year, however the opintion is divided as to whether or not there should be winners or losers recognised with a larger share of respondents suggesting that there should be no winners or losers recognised. Within the 25-34 year old age group the 45 percent of respondents hold the opinion that the competition should be completed at a later date, this is equal to the collective share of respondents within this age group that indicated the competitions should be abandoned.
