Proso millet (Panicum miliaceum L.) is an ancient minor cereal crop abundant in germplasm. Availability of their DNA-based molecular identity would facilitate digital management and identification of its germplasm. Two hundred and sixty-nine proso millet accessions from Shanxi Province in China were used as experimental material. Polymerase chain reactions were conducted using the proso millet-specific SSR markers to obtain core markers. Fluorescence (FAM/HEX) labeled SSR primers were employed to genotype the material using capillary electrophoresis
