Reddit comments saying search or AI brought the writer to the thread ("Google brought me here"), 2023 to 2026

Quarterly and monthly counts of Reddit comments where the writer says a search engine or an AI assistant brought them to the thread, Q3 2023 to Q3 2026: 35,501 crediting search and 488 crediting AI, with known bots left out. Includes all Reddit comments per period, AI comments by assistant and counts by subreddit for January 2025 to September 2026. Source: KissMyPost analysis of public Reddit posts and comments. Comments crediting search and AI per month, July 2023 to September 2026, with all Reddit comments in each month. reddit-search-ai-referrals-subreddits-2025-2026.csv: Counts by subreddit, January 2025 to September 2026. All 852 subreddits with at least 5 search arrivals or 2 AI arrivals. Personal profiles left out. Method: Strict English phrase list matched on full comment text; AI assistants counted only after their public launch; known bots excluded; precision checked by two independent AI labelers on random samples. Measured: Reddit comments saying a search engine brought the writer to the thread; Reddit comments saying an AI assistant brought the writer to the thread; Share of AI among these comments; Count per million Reddit comments; Count by subreddit. All files contain aggregates only, no individual posts or user names.
