Images from a Historic Building Survey at The Black Swan, 23 High Street, Henley in Arden, Warwickshire, January 2023

This collection comprises images from a historic building survey at The Black Swan, 23 High Street, Henley in Arden, Warwickshire as a condition of planning consent for partial demolition, extensions, and alterations to the building. This work was undertaken by Allen Archaeology in January 2023. The survey identified seven broad phases of development, highlighted by a conglomeration of seven different structures. The two-storey structures fronting the High Street are both likely to date to the late 16th/17th century. The structure to the north was built slightly after and the third phase is highlighted by refacing the structure to the north and adding brick nogging to the south structure in the 18th century. Alterations and extensions occurred in the 19th and 20th centuries.
