Madagascar (2006): Coverage & Quality of Coverage, Access & Equity of Access of condoms in Hotzones and Truck stops in seven Top Reseau Sites, Madagascar

MAP studies allow programmers to make an assessment of product availability and accessibility using pre-defined criteria for coverage, quality of coverage and access. Its goal is to increase the overall efficiency of social marketing product and service delivery systems. The main objectives of the PSI/Madagascar 2006 MAP survey were to monitor the coverage and quality of coverage of PSI's social marketed condoms (Protector Plus); and monitor access and market penetration of Protector Plus condoms in high-risk areas for HIV/Aids (hotzones and truck stops), within 7 Top Reseau sites. The Project MAP methodology employs the Lot Quality Assurance Sampling (LQAS) technique to draw a random sample of 19 hotzones and 19 truck stops from the seven Top Reseau sites in order to determine the proportion of hotzones and truck stops, treated separately, in which Protector Plus condoms are available.
