Arthrobacter sp. strain SPG23 was isolated from the rhizosphere of poplar trees planted at a phytoremediation site with diesel fuel contaminated groundwater. The study focused on selecting for and characterize bacteria with hydrocarbon degrading and plant-growth promoting properties. The overall goal is to apply -omics technologies for enhanced phytoremediation.
