La repressione dei crimini di guerra individuali ad opera dei tribunali penali internazionali

During the World War II unbelievable atrocities were committed. The International Community decided that “never again” this would have happened. The first international tribunals were established to prosecute the war crimes, the crimes against peace and the crimes against humanity committed during the conflict: the idea of an “international criminal justice” started to emerge. The end of the 20th century witnessed the establishment of the ad hoc International Criminal Tribunals for Yugoslavia and Rwanda cases, as well as of the first so-called Hybrid Courts and of the International Criminal Court. In this short essay the Author will analyze, in particular, individual war crimes and their prosecution before international criminal tribunals.
