Oranges, alone, had a worldwide import value of approximately 9.3 billion USD in 2009. Oranges are also important nutritional source for human health. Oranges produce polyembryonic seeds through nucellar embryony, generally male or female sterile and with highly heterozygous genetic background. Such biological characteristics hindered the studies of citrus genetics and breeding improvement.
