Panton-Valentine leukocidin (PVL) is a one of virulence factor of Staphylococcus aureus. Among PVL-positive MRSAs, USA300 is known as a clone that is prevalent in various parts of the world. We have detected a number of USA300-Like strains in Japan. The whole genome analysis of TPS3156 was conducted and revealed that it belonged to USA300-LV.
