Escherichia coli strain:M51-3 | isolate:M51-3 Genome sequencing and assembly

The emergence and dissemination of multiple drug-resistant (MDR) bacteria is a Global public health concern owing to infections with these organisms have been associated with significantly worse clinical outcomes, resulting in prolonged illness, disability and death. The spread of MDR Escherichia coli have been documented worldwide and both community-onset and hospital-acquired infections caused by these bacteria are increasing. In order to understand the mechanisms involved in the MDR phenotype, the aim of this study was to identify the genetic relatedness of drug-resistance determinants from a genomic approach.
