Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)

The report by the Federal Environment Agency examines the sources and annual emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from Austrian fuel tank storage facilities and the Schwechat industrial site. The analysis improves the data for these ozone precursors in these industrial areas. VOC emissions have already been continuously reduced in recent years through various mitigation techniques, in conjunction with standards and matter. The methods described for the determination of diffuse VOC emissions are the basis for more accurate detection and further emission reduction. For the first time, Austria's plastics processing industry is being analysed as a potential source of VOC emissions. Possible environmental measures to reduce VOC emissions in this area are presented.
